Black Friday 2009

Hello all! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving and weekend. I was supposed to be coming back from Washington today, but had a bit of bad news at the first of the week. My next door neighbors got broke into a week ago and it made me a bit nervous to leave the house for an entire weekend. So, Dave and I decided to just go down for Friday. We got a late start because of catching shuttles to the rental cars and taking a few wrong turns/exits. Which means wee arrived at the border around 8am. I was not too pleased as we finally got to the first store, Kmart, but my mood totally changed once I saw a PUPPY!!! Someone was standing around showing off her puppy in the electronic area.

Somehow that got my shopping mojo back and I was able to get quite a lot on my list.
I got Louise (my dog) a new coat and she modeled it for us that night. hehe For some reason, the fact that the coat has a collar makes me laugh. Anyway, I also got lots of house goods/clothes/misc. As shown here: blowdryer, shirts for hubby, sweaters for me, new headphones for us both, a mini drain snake, Trader joe's soap, tissues, and vitamin E oil, electric blanket, 3x3 pillar candles in vanilla, flannel sheets, skin products from Ulta and sally beauty, hair products from sally beauty and bare minerals gift pack from Ulta. Oh also a 4 pk of measuring tape, and cat treats from trader joes. Whew.

Now comes the food part! I always like to go grocery shopping down in the states as there are places like Trader Joes that are not in Canada. I also feel the prices can sometimes be better, so it turns out to be a good bargain. I got a fresh free range turkey for 99 cents a pound! I was freaking out in the store! I even said to Dave, "I feel like I am stealing!". Yeah, I was pretty happy to get a good deal on our Christmas turkey.
In the other photo are the rest of the groceries. From Trader Joes we got soy cream, organic free range eggs, organic milk, low sodium chicken and vegetable stock, a few Clif bars, two spaghetti sauces, Chile lime chicken burgers, frozen artichokes, frozen mango, frozen, tropical fruit, peanut butter pretzels, organic ketchup, whole wheat lavash bread, and nonfat organic plain yogurt. From Tops, I got the turkey, self rising flour, Parmesan and Romano cheeses. From Walmart I found brown and serve buns!!!! They were also .75 a pack so I was doubly pleased! I have been looking for these for a while and I don't think they carry such a thing in Canada. SO HAPPY about that. Also Walgreens had Ben and Jerry's ice cream for 1.99 a carton so I got a few of those as well.

Also in the picture, leftover popeyes chicken dinner, leftover dinner from applebees and two dozen krispy kremes.

On they way back we figured we saved quite a lot of money so I am glad we decided to go even for one day. It took quite a lot of time packing my fridge and freezer, but I managed!

FINALLY, my first post on my new blog!

Hello all! I actually opened up this new blog months ago, but better late than never! I decided to start a fresh blog because I opened a youtube account. I want to blog/vlog/ramble about the things going on in my life. It gives my family and friends a chance to see me in 'action' and give some tips/tricks/recipes that I have picked up through my domestic working life. I also have started an monthly resolution with myself in order to challenge myself with a goal or two to achieve through out the month. I thought this way any new habits I want to form would be easier to pick up. If the goals are met, I just roll them over into the next month. More on that in a later post.

In another week, I will be done with classes and will focus on the winter holidays! YAY! I love this time of year when you get to do all kinds of craft projects and holiday decorating and cooking! I am already brimming with lots of ideas thanks to the Circle craft Christmas market that was on last week at Canada Place in Vancouver. My husband and I have been going every year since we moved back almost 3 years now. I really love seeing other peoples creativity and wish I had more money to buy all the great crafts. We did buy some yummy treats from the food gifts section. This year, there was SO much good food and I almost bought a fruitcake! Yes, someone has figured out how to make fruitcake edible! lol No,but seriously, after seeing Christmas trees all over, I am so ready to start myself! I think I might even go down to the states for some black friday sale shopping. Well, for now I have to figure out what to make for dinner and return a bunch of phone calls. Duty calls! Have a good day!
