Yummy Weekend Breakfast

The weekends mean sleeping in (most days) and yummy big breakfast. If I am lazy, I will just make fried eggs and toast but other days its pancakes and waffles. I got a mini waffle stove top pan for christmas so I used that. Wow...it makes great waffles and cooks much quicker than a traditional waffle iron. And fresh fruit always make a good addition to the plate...

Sleepy Saturday...

I am totally exhausted after a VERY long day shopping, shopping, and more shopping. Now don't get me wrong, I do like to shop from time to time, but this was a lot of heavy grocery and household shopping so it made for very tiring day. I did manage to stop by J.J. Bean and have an iced tea and also made an iced coffee along the way to keep me alert. :) Anyway, the best part is that I now have a nice full fridge and pantry and I also got some new blankets to use on the sofas! Whoohoo...lets have a movie marathon on netflix!!! :)

Out with the old...

I never blogged about this, but my husband and I had a secret for a few months. We were harboring an old oven in the middle of our dining room. In 602 square feet of condo, this ended up being a huge bit of space that made our little place that much more cramped. Thankfully, we finally sold it about a month ago. When I start thinking about how small our place is, I remember how much more tiny it felt then. Ah, and now to remove the rest of the clutter...

Hair Inspiration or Stalking?

I was doing a bit of shopping the week after the riots in Vancouver's downtown core. I spotted this woman with gorgeous spiral curls and I just had to take a picture. I have been on the look out for some hair inspiration because I want to start wearing my own hair in its natural curly state. I thought it was perfectly normal, but my husband seems to think it is a bit 'stalker-ish'. So, inspirational pic or intro to stalkville? You be the judge.

Bitter Chocolate without the Sweet?!

I decided the other day to surprise my husband with homemade mini chocolate cupcakes. I used a old recipe for vanilla cupcake and added some cocoa powder in place of some of the flour. Then I decided to also add chopped extra dark chocolate in the batter. All was going to plan, and I cooked the cupcakes with plenty of time to clean up and ice the cakes. As I have always done before, I took the opportunity to sample my work. They were absolutely nasty!!!!!! The most bitter cupcake I have ever had!!! I couldn't figure out why it was so messed up until I realized I never put in the sugar. That's right folks, I forgot the most important part of any dessert. S U G A R!!!!!! It made me realize just how important the 'sweet' is in 'bittersweet chocolate'!

UGH...

I have recently started the 30 day blog challenge in which I must make a blog post for 30 days. I didn't budget for the days I might have a migraine headache though. :( So I am going to shower and go straight to bed just as the picture illustrates. Uh, but you do realize I am not a dog and it is just meant as an example? lol Oh and if you have the time, please stop by Louise the pug's blog @ http://pug-dog.blogspot.com/ I think she would appreciate it. :) Have a good night, everyone!

Orange Lips and a Quick Tip

I have been loving the orange lip makeup trend this year. I actually started wearing mine a bit before spring because I think orange colors look lovely on tan skin. My tip to making an orange lip last longer than your morning coffee- lip pencils! I bought a lip pencil from styli-style (in orange) and I draw in my lips. Lip pencils last much longer on the lips because of its dry constitution. I then top it with a orange colored gloss (the one I am using now is Covergirl Luxe lipgloss in Coral) to make it a bit softer and not too harsh. I love the look and it seems to bring a bit more warmth to my skin. :)

Surprise in my Salad

In my quest to eat more healthy, I have been having salads for lunch. Well, most days anyway... This day was particularly good - romaine lettuce, baby spinach, green onions, green and red peppers, broccoli, carrots, pinata apples and a side order of corn chips.

While getting the baby spinach into the bowl, I noticed a 3-leaf clover in said bowl. I thought it was a nice surprise and decided to declare this salad my lucky salad. I know most people think its only lucky when it is a 4- leaf clover, but I am not so picky about my happy little surprises. :)

2011 - the year of first times? Part 1

It is already July and I have had lots of new experiences and discoveries. So I wanted to have a reoccurring blog post documenting all my new firsts! :DIn January, I had my first poutine ever! I was never tempted to try it since it sounded too much like a heart attack special. Then we (David and I) were doing some after xmas shopping at the mall. We were needing a snack and pasted by New York Fries stand to find the new butter chicken poutine. Um...yeah. Indian flavored fries with cheese? Yes please. After that, it was all down hill and so I went straight into Purdy's chocolate. I once again had never had one of their ice cream bars. The neat thing about their bars are that they hand dip the plain vanilla ice cream bar into either chocolate or white chocolate. THEN, they dip it into either nuts or sprinkles. :D I was a happy lady that day for sure.

PS: I am doing a 30 day blog/youtube challenge so I will be posting every day until July 31st! Lets hope I can keep it up!
